Denise L. Zanetta has been an artist all her life with a special passion for drawing, particularly in colored pencil. Her drawings of animals, a favored subject, not only render every hair in detail but capture the personality of the animal just as well. She also enjoys focusing on flowers and draws them with life-like reality. Denise’s portfolio also includes expert portraiture and photography, and she works in oil and pastel as well. She shares her talent through teaching both drawing and colored pencil.
Denise has lived in Eugene, Oregon since 1977, winning awards consistently in local competitions. She has been a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America since 2013, Colored Pencil Society of America District Chapter 201 out of Portland and currently serves as the webmaster. One of her works was juried into the 2015 CPSA international competition. She recently joined the family of the Emerald Art Center.
She has been teaching through Lane Community College Continuing Education since 2008 and enjoys sharing her love of art.
My work looks at the beauty of nature as I see them. My goal with each piece of work is to capture the feeling and personality of my subject as I see them. My work is realistic while capturing the soul of my subjects.
With each piece I strive for a reflection of the subject through the choice of that subject and the colors I use. I want to show the dramatic contrast between dark and light to create a feeling of my subject in the viewer.
The Theme of my show in July is “Reflections of Nature”
My show looks at the beauty of nature through the reflections of my art work from the impish smile of a young lady, the growth of flowers, to the attitude of my best friend’s basset hound.
