Springfilm Presents: Great Soundtracks, West Side Story

Please join us at the Wildish Theater on 1 February, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. for a free screening of West Side Story.

Lauded as one of the best film adaptations of a musical ever created, this film is a modern-day, loose re-telling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet set in the late 1950’s Upper West Side of New York City. Feuding families, young love, great dance numbers, and iconic music by Leonard Bernstein. What’s not to like?

West Side Story, directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise, starring Natalie Wood, George Chakiris, Richard Beymer, 1961, 153 min.

Watch the film and stay for a short after-film discussion! The movie and discussion are free to attend. The ongoing film series is presented by Plank Town Restaurant and Brewery and coordinated by a partnership between the Springfield Library, the Springfield Library Foundation, and Willamalane Park & Recreation District.

The monthly film and discussion event, Plank Town Presents: Springfilm continues its new season: Great Soundtracks! Join us in February for West Side Story.
